2015 Specialized Tarmac Elite

Specialized's Tarmac has Tour de France and Giro d' Italia wins to its credit. One ride on its FACT-carbon frame and fork and you'll know why! The Tarmac Elite boasts an awesome combo of feathery weight and maximum stiffness for road-scorching power transfer that you'll appreciate whenever the road tilts skyward or your friends pick up the pace. It's equipped with a 22-speed Shimano 105 component group with a Praxis Works crankset and quick, smooth-rolling Fulcrum wheels. Plus, you'll love the Specialized carbon and aluminum components throughout this fine road machine, while the super comfy Body Geometry saddle feels great from mile from one to 100.

Comments:

I ride this bike in all of my training and triathlon races and it is always there when I need it. I ride from 60 to 120 miles a week and it's incredible how responsive this bike is. Then, with the price, you can't go wrong. It is honestly one of the best bang for your buck deals in the cycling industry. I would recommend you upgrade the tires.

    Comments:

An amazing frame at a great price. The groupo it comes with (a 105 mix)is very serviceable but should be upgraded for competitive riding. The crank it comes with weighs in at a full 2.2 pounds! The wheelset is great for training and completely bomb-proof, but is very heavy. All that said, I didn't upgrade anything until a year later. I'll beg to differ with one of the previous posters: I think the toupe seat it comes with is incredibly comfortable. The first few weeks in any seat will cause your sit-bones to ache. Buy this bike: it will change your life and you won't regret it. You will soon be crushing the dreams of your competitors beneath its gorgeous carbon frame!

    Comments:

Great bike, good quality components, very light, responsive and fast. I got a good deal from Megacycle for a 2009 close-out model. The Toupe Saddle turns very uncomfortable after one hour on the bike. It is probably designed to minimize weight, so it doesn't have any padding, which is incredible for a saddle valued at $150. So, I will be trading that saddle for another one better designed for long rides. Despite the saddle issue, I am very happy with the bike and the dealer. This is my 2nd bike from Megacycle.

        Comments:

Not cheap but you certain get what you pay for with this fast and comfortable bike. I tried Tarmac Elite vs. a Trek with carbon stays and forks in the shop. On the cycle trainer, both felt good and while the Tarmac was quite a bit more expensive, it was hard to tell. [...]. I tied the Trek first and it was good but within 100ft of riding the Tarmac I was sold. The full carbon really does make light work of uneven concrete pavement. I took it out for a 30 mile ride the following morning and it is simply excellent for good fast riding for riders who want speed and comfort.

I love this bike and plan to keep it for a long time. The only problem I had was the standard saddle being uncomfortable. The staff at Orange Cycle helped me resolve this quickly. I was the problem, not the saddle. A very comfortable, fast, responsive bike. I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this bike to friends. Or anyone else who asked. All levels of cyclists would enjoy it. Buy one before they run out!

          Comments:

Bought this bike because I saw it for $600 less than 2008 list price. Full carbon for $1200? Are you kidding me? Taking this bike out the first time was like going to heaven. I've had steel bikes and aluminum bikes with carbon forks and the Tarmac is, by far, the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. New England roads in February are not exactly smooth, but the bike absorbed everything the road threw its way. The 105 group is definitely on par with Ultegra of yesteryear. May upgrade to lighter wheels, but the Mavic CXP22 wheels roll well and provide a nice ride. Only been on a couple rides, but I can't wait to go out again. This bike wants to be ridden.
